Pound cake

Entah tetiba je rasa nak buat kek, terus menggoogle resepi and the result is
....Pound Cake. Simple and easy recipe. Pound cake is a British creation that dates back to early 1700s.By mid 1800's the pound cake began to deviate from it's original formula to make a lighter cake.
Tea time memang sesuai sangatlah jika dihidangkan kek ini sambil minum2 kopi atau teh. Saya memang suka menokok-nambah, bosan sebab ianya plain saja, saya letakkan cream pastry. I divide the cake into half and put the cream in between. So...inilah hasilnya.

OLD - FASHIONED BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE

1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
5 eggs
2 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda
1 c. buttermilk
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan. Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Blend in vanilla, sift flour, salt, baking powder and soda together 4 times. Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Spoon batter into prepared pan. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes or until toothpick inserted 1 inch from edges comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes; then turn out onto wire rack and cool completely. Makes 12 to 15 servings.
